Water Trust Board (WTB) and Rio Chama-San Juan RCPP

The Water Trust Board (WTB) provides state funding in New Mexico for various water-related projects aimed at conserving and improving water resources. This funding is typically allocated towards infrastructure, watershed restoration, and ecosystem management.

Similarly, the Rio Chama-San Juan Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) is a federal initiative that operates under the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It seeks to promote collaborative conservation efforts among various stakeholders, focusing on improving water quality, enhancing wildlife habitats, and restoring ecological balance in the Rio Chama and San Juan watersheds.

The collaboration between these funding sources has resulted in improved water management practices, enhanced habitat restoration efforts, and demonstrated the value of integrating local and federal resources for effective conservation outcomes.

The East Rio Arriba Soil and Water Conservation District was awarded a $1 million grant from the Water Trust Board project and $2.3 million from Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for the Rio Chama-San Juan RCPP project.
